What’s Current: Amber Heard gives her $7 million divorce settlement to charity

Amber Heard, who filed for divorce after accusing her now ex-husband, Johnny Depp, of ongoing abuse, says she will be donating her $7 million divorce settlement to several charities, including “the ACLU, with a particular focus to stop violence against women.”

“Money played no role for me and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves,” Heard said in a statement Thursday.

How come swimmer Ryan Lochte just is a “kid” who deserves “a break” while gymnast Gabby Douglas was widely vilified because she didn’t put her hand on her heart and smile enough during the Olympics?
