First medical study on breast binding conducted. Though it was conducted by a pro-breast-binding organization, The Binding Health Project, which donates money to providing free breast binders, the study still found 28 potential negative outcomes associated with breast binding, including compressed or broken ribs, build-up of fluid in the lungs, difficulty breathing, compression of the spine, and damaged breast tissue. Ninety seven per cent of those surveyed reported at least one negative health outcome attributed to binding.
