That audio of that Silicon Valley dude talking to his wife… uffffff.

George Bush is a feminist…literally laughing out loud at that….

Didn’t Ivanka also say the same about Trump?

Its interesting to hear the daughters of clearly sexist men claim their fathers are feminist, when the people they are speaking about don’t claim that label. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong about this, but I don’t think either Bush or Trump have ever claimed to be feminist…though I’m sure they’ve made some vague generic statements about “respecting women.”

“People laugh at this, but I think my dad was a feminist,” she said. “He showed us that we could be whatever we wanted to be.”

Yes, people do laugh at that statement because it is completely ridiculous. Encouraging your daughters to be what they want to be does not make one a feminist, just a decent parent.

I’ve read some psychological studies that claim that men having daughters can change their views towards women for the better. If this were really the case, wouldn’t the world be a much better place for women?

Wanting the best for your daughter, treating your daughter well while contributing to the suffering of other women–by voting for politicians that don’t support women’s issues, by calling women sexist names, by watching porn, visiting prostitutes and etc–really makes no sense to me…it’s just such a disconnect.

You want your own daughter to be treated like a decent human being, but you are okay treating other people’s daughter like objects to be exploited, used and bought?

    Aw, boo.

What’s your intention with this comment, in this context? To excuse abuse and exploitation of women? To tell us to suck it up and stop complaining?

    • Morag999

Of course that was his intention — but he can’t see that. His massive genius is always getting in the way …

      • FierceMild

        Snort!

  • melissa

Yup. And that’s why i didn’t listen to the audio. I’d bawl like a baby too.The text was horrifying enough.

    • FierceMild

      I haven’t either.

Somebody needs to drop a piano on “it is what it is.”

  • cday881@gmail.com

So does the production of babies, as well as their care.

  • FierceMild

    Damn right, sister.

  • FierceMild

    Yes. Yes. Yesyesyesyesyes.

We also need to talk, amongst ourselves, about what ‘romance’ is, where it comes from, and if it’s good for us.

  • FierceMild

You do realize you justified everything she said with this comment, right? No? I thought not.
