I find the Marilyn Manson article interesting. I was a big fan of his in my teen years. He’s a smart man and I hope this is truly his showing his stance on the sexual abuse of women and not just a publicity stunt.

Also heartened (and horrified) by women coming forward from so many different sectors. Perhaps this will finally be noticed and change can start to happen.

I am always skeptical of online activism, but this morning I had a similar thought. Like wow, so many popularly known men are being called out for this, by so many women, and one right after the other too. Maybe this is a big moment for women. I have a little hope for once.

I’m glad you have it too. I kinda think when the hope is gone then there’s nothing left to fight for.

I’ve been wary of Manson since reading Jenna Jameson’s account of his creeptastic behavior in her autobiography, but I suppose there’s always a chance he’s changed.

“…and all I’ve seen is abused women diagnosed with mental illness and taught to do vision boards.”
    Totally, painfully true.

Trump is also cutting funding to every woman centered programs.

And that money is being given to males playing lady dress up, anyway.

” and all I’ve seen is abused women diagnosed with mental illness and taught to do vision boards.” – yup – pretty much like that. And I walked away from the women’s center for the last time after another woman in the support group began to explain how “what led up to it” can justify abuse while the facilitator sat in her chair looking earnest. That was the point in time when I truly considered ending my life. Leaving an abuser is one thing – surviving the isolation that results from judgmental ignorance of the general public AND some of the resources that are supposed to help us may be even more difficult.

I’m so glad you got out.

My thoughts too. When she spoke without naming names, I wondered whether she was referring to Manson because she was with him at the beginning of her career. But perhaps he really is a decent bloke, since I imagine she (or someone) would have named him by now. He leaves me puzzled. He insists he is a “psychopath”, and yet, he comes across as one of the more reasonable men I have seen in the public eye.

McGowan’s only negative comments about Manson refer to “lifestyle” differences, that apparently have something to do with his drug use. He also dated Evan Rachel Wood, who is outspoken as a feminist, and she didn’t really have anything negative to say about him (although she was only 19 when they dated, and he may have left his wife Dita von Teese for Wood). Still, if there was something inherently sexist in his treatment of his partners, one of these women would probably have said so. This doesn’t mean he’s not an asshole, just maybe not a total misogynist asshole, lol.

Like every other word, men have co-opted it (“consent”) to mean whatever they want…men are parasites.
