What’s Current: Christine Blasey Ford set to testify as more allegations emerge about Brett Kavanaugh

  • Over the weekend, Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer reported that a second woman — Deborah Ramirez — has accused US Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, a federal judge who sits on the DC Court of Appeals, of sexual misconduct. Two more potential witnesses have come forward with allegations since. Kavanaugh’s first accuser, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford has agreed to testify to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday regarding her own allegations.
  • A lawsuit has been filed against a Ferguson, Missouri, nursing home, after the family of an 84-year-old great-grandmother with Alzheimer’s and mobility problems discovered that she’d been repeatedly raped and sodomized while in their care.
  • Two girl’s unit leaders have been expelled from the UK Girl Guides, and their units disbanded, after signing a letter questioning a planned Girlguiding policy that would allow trans-identified boys to join overnight trips with girls without letting parents know, and for trans-identified males to be Guide leaders.
