  •  A talk by feminist artist Rachel Ara, scheduled at Oxford Brookes University, was cancelled at the last minute after accusations of transphobia from students.
  • Nearly 10 per cent of Japanese companies require women to wear high heels and makeup at work, according to a survey conducted by the Trade Union. The results highlight the growing awareness of sex discrimination in the country and the spread of the #KuToo campaign, which petitioned the government to end high heel requirements.
  • Female footballers in Spain’s top division went on strike over the weekend, resulting in the cancellation of eight games. The strike came as a result of a breakdown in negotiations with the Association of Women’s Football Clubs over an agreement covering minimum working and pay conditions. 
  • A US survey of attitudes and practices surrounding paternity leave found that while men are taking more leave, women continue to do the majority of housework and child care.
