What’s Current: Russia blocks access to two of the biggest porn sites, Pornhub and YouPorn

Russia has blocked two of the world’s biggest porn sites — PornHub and YouPorn. Any Russian citizen who tries to visit either site is now redirected to a message saying the sites have been blocked “by decision of public authorities.”

On Wednesday, Mustafa Ururyar was sentenced to 18 months in jail (the maximum jail term for a summary sexual assault) for raping York University student Mandi Gray and forcing her to perform oral sex in his apartment on January 31, 2015. Justice Marvin Zuker also sentenced him to three years probation and required him to submit a DNA sample to the national police database and remain on the sex offender registry for 10 years.

An organization dedicated to combating online harassment is seeking 100 women writers and journalists to participate in a social media monitoring program. The goal of the Pilot 100 program, which will monitor the social media accounts of participants for six months, is to analyze how harassers operate and figure out how to combat them.

Law enforcement have started to target “John boards” — review sites where men “rate” prostituted women –in their efforts to bust sex buyers.
