What’s Current: Vancouver Public Library banned from Pride parade for hosting Meghan Murphy talk

  • The Vancouver Public Library has been banned from participating in next month’s Pride parade by the Pride Society for allowing an event booking featuring Meghan Murphy.
  • Russian LGBT activist Yelena Grigoryeva was found murdered in St. Petersburg. According to friends and colleagues, Grigoryeva feared for her life after finding her name listed on a website that encourages people to “hunt” LGBT activists.
  • England’s only NHS youth gender clinic has lowered the age at which it offers children puberty blockers to 11, a decision partly based on clinical trials that are now under investigation. 
  • An investigation on sex-selective abortion in India’s Uttarakhand state is underway after data revealed that no female children were recorded born in 132 villages in the past three months.
