  • Hundreds of girls were abducted by armed men from a school in Nigeria. The girls were safely returned days later. Instances of child abduction have increased in the nation amid an economic crisis.
  • The Supreme Court of India stayed the arrest of a man accused of rape by his former partner, suggesting that “however brutal the husband is,” rape within marriage is an impossibility. In a separate case, a Supreme Court judge told a man accused of rape of a minor that he could be absolved if he married the girl when she turned 18, prompting calls for the judge’s resignation.
  • The High Court of Justice in London heard arguments that trans prisoners are “disproportionately” likely to commit sexual offenses, including rape, and should therefore be excluded from women’s prisons.
