What’s Current: Afghan girls banned from attending school past Grade 6 by Taliban

  • On Wednesday, the Taliban reversed a promise to allow Afghan girls to attend secondary school.
  • An NHS child psychiatrists’ conference on gender dysphoria was cancelled after trans activists accused speakers like Helen Joyce, Lisa Littman, and Stephanie Davies-Arai of “extremism.” Trans activist speakers had included Susie Green, the chief executive of Mermaids, a charity that supports transitioning children. Green declined to participate after learning that she would be speaking alongside Davies-Arai, who runs the campaign group Transgender Trend. Green told NHS staff that Mermaids “cannot be a part of a conference that gives a platform to Transgender Trend.”
