  • Dr. Holly Lawford-Smith gave a seminar about legislation banning “conversion therapy,” despite local trans activists’ attempts to deplatform her. In defense of Dr. Lawlord-Smith and academic freedom of speech, university vice-chancellor Robert Van de Noort said:

“We strive to be a safe space for all backgrounds, orientations, and perspectives. But creating safe spaces cannot, and must not, be used for shutting down genuine academic debate.”
