What’s Current: Trans activists mob 80-year-old Julie Jaman and supporters at #LetJulieSwim rally

  • An 80-year-old woman who was banned from her local pool for speaking out against a trans-identified male in the women’s changing room is heckled by trans activists during a peaceful women’s rights demonstration. On Monday, the #LetJulieSwim presser in Port Townsend, Washington saw protesters grabbing women, stealing items of clothing and phones, and pushing people to the ground. Reports allege trans activists destroyed equipment and attempted to interrupt Julie Jaman’s speech condemning her local pool’s policy.
  • A 16-year-old in Florida who sought a court waiver to terminate her pregnancy has been denied, with the court determining she did not present “clear and convincing evidence that she was sufficiently mature to decide whether to terminate her pregnancy.”
  • Dr. Joey Bonifacio, a Canadian pediatrician whose practice at Toronto’s St. Michael’s Hospital focuses on gender identity, says doctors need to “slow down” in transitioning youth, and not move trans-identified kids so readily to medical transition.
  • A 10-year-old boy is heralded as youngest ever “trans model” to walk the catwalk at New York Fashion Week. Noella’s parents began socially transitioning him at four.
