What’s Current: Charity commission opens inquiry into trans kids’ charity, Mermaids

  • On Friday, the UK government Charity Commission announced it would be opening a statutory inquiry into Mermaids, a charity advocating for the transitioning of kids. The Commission will investigate theregulatory issues to determine whether they indicate serious systemic failing in the charity’s governance and management.
  • The Women’s Equality Party is “struggling to survive”— UK journalist Janice Tuner argues this is partially on account of their unwillingness to define (and stand up for) “women.”
  • Head of trans kids’ charity, Mermaids, is “forced out’” as staff revolted against her “incapable leadership.” Susie Green suddenly stood down as chief executive after six years, with no interim boss in place.
