What’s Current: UK government blocks Scotland’s gender self-identification bill

BBC News reports this is the first time Scottish law has been blocked by British Parliament for affecting the U.K. Equality Act.

  • Former Afghan lawmaker Mursal Nabizada is killed at her home in Kabul. Nabizada was one of few female politicians who remained in Afghanistan after the Taliban seized power in August 2021.
  • A London police officer is dismissed after admitting to assaulting women on 49 different occasions over an 18-year period.
