What’s Current: MindGeek, Pornhub’s parent company, is aquired by Canadian private equity firm Ethical Capital Partners

  • Pornhub’s parent company MindGeek has been sold to Canadian private equity firm Ethical Capital Partners. The firm, which claims to specialize in tech opportunities that ‘require ethical leadership’, announced the acquisition on its website yesterday. The sale follows the release of Netflix documentary Money Shot: The Pornhub Story, which purports to address videos of minors and trafficking victims on the site.
  • On Tuesday, a Warsaw court convicted a women’s rights activist for helping a victim of domestic violence access abortion pills in Poland. She was sentenced to eight months of community service.
  • A shopping mall in East Yorkshire outraged female customers after taking down the “ladies only” sign on the women’s washroom after trans activists complained it puts “trans and non-binary people in danger.”
