What’s Current: Artist Nina Paley and feminist historian Max Dashu no-platformed by trans activists

What’s Current is Feminist Current’s daily news roundup.

  • Indian authorities have arrested several men who worked at a gated apartment complex on charges of repeatedly kidnapping and gang raping an 11-year-old girl who lived in the buildings.
  • Sexual violence expert and prevention educator, Jessica Eaton, is calling for the resignation of Conservative MP Andrew Griffiths over a series of sadistic and violent text messages that he sent to two young women who worked at a local bar.
  • UK anti-violence campaigner, Jean Hatchet, is asking for signatures petitioning the British Transport Police to stop allowing male offenders to self-identify as female when arrested.
  • More than 140 survivors of sexual abuse by Larry Nassar, former team doctor for USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University, were honoured with the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at the ESPYs last night.

“One person asked me if I “identify as a TERF.” Max Dashu states.
I didn’t come up with this phrase, but I quote it often because it is completely accurate.
TERF is just Feminazi covered in glitter. Meet the new boss. It’s the same as the old boss.
TERF is a term coined to silence women who won’t toe the line.
No screaming meemie shrieking about the TERFs has ever been able to explain to me why there is no equivalent term for men they deem transphobic.
I’ll tell you why there isn’t. Because they aren’t trying to silence men.
I do not hate people who transition. I have sympathy for people who feel gender dysphoria, although I have never felt such myself. I respectfully call people by their preferred pronouns. But I will not stand by and accept violence being directed at those who question the current “trans activist” agenda, which includes one whole hell of a lot of erasure of women.
I am not a “non man” and I am not a “cis” woman. I am a woman who has lived too long and fought too hard for equality to be silenced. I wasn’t silenced by “feminazi”, which I have been called more than once. I am not silenced by those using trite insults like “old fat bitch” in an attempt to offend me. My retort to that is “yes, and?”
I will not be silenced by “TERF” either.
Anyone who questions any part of the “trans activist” agenda is shouted down.
Meet the new boss. It’s the same as the old boss.

There are over 1500 comments in support of Max by real women on the Facebook event page. The privilege, illogic and violence expressed by the MITs (males in transition) and their handmaidens is maddening. I’m still hoping for a bring down of the entire conference but now, star presenter Star Hawk will attend the conference as planned (she’s proudly trans inclusive) and attempt to negotiate a settlement between these violent man boys and lesbian feminists. Good luck with that, sister.

Yes I went over there. It was heartening to see. Apparently they were trying to delete a lot of the supportive comments. There was a particularly foul-mouthed individual (TiM) Kathy Jacobs (a troon) who was really delightful – in the face of such hostility and disgusting comments I cannot understand how the Confluence listened to them over natal women. I sincerely hope their turn-out is diminished by this action.

They don’t know, and have no investment in witch/women burning. They are men.
