” legislation “will make New York birth certificates more inclusive for all”

Birth certificates are about listing facts…..they have nothing to do with self-identification or inclusivity.

“The importance to people whose gender is non-binary, neither male nor female, of being able to get an accurate birth certificate is validation of their reality.”

Changing your birth certificate to say non-binary because of your feelings is nothing but a gross distortion of reality. I also have to wonder how this will impact statistics: crime stats, poverty stats, dv stats..instead of talking about the number of men who commit rapes/sexual assault are we now supposed to talk about how rapists exists on a spectrum..that so many of them are neither male or female.

When all this trans craziness gonna come to an end?

    • SkyLark Phillips

Yes, a birth certificate should reflect biological reality. The human species is sexually dimorphic and all primates reproduce sexually. No primate, human or non-human, can change it sex. Yes, there are rare intersex genetic conditions that are about 1 or 2% of the population. Intersex is NOT the same as transgender. The vast majority of trans identified people have to intersex medical condition.

“I also have to wonder how this will impact statistics: crime stats, poverty stats, dv stats..instead of talking about the number of men who commit rapes/sexual assault are we now supposed to talk about how rapists exists on a spectrum..that so many of them are neither male or female.”

If these states are collecting data based on gender identity, all federal agencies should start suing states like California and New York.. For example, the Department of Justice, CDC, etc. should demand accurate data, and sue states that don’t comply The majority of state don’t collect data based on gender identity. So, we could have a situation whereby some state statistics are based on gender identity, and other states are different. How can reliable and consistent data exist when there are no consistent, well-defined categories of people. Accurate statistics are vital because this is how policy is shaped. Governments have to have reliable consistent data. I’m very concerned about “gender identity” skewing crime statistics. Criminologists have known for decades that most violent crime is committed by males/ If crimes committed by transwomen (biological males) as counted as crimes committed by females, what will this do the crime statistics? We could see an uptick in crime committed by “females”, when in reality, the crimes were committed by males.

The Center For Disease Control collects a great deal of data and information. Health care is based on biology and science not a political ideology called gender identity. And, bacteria, viruses, and parasites that cause disease have no gender identity. If health care data that the CDC gets is based on “gender identity”, health care statistics could be rendered meaningless. For example, some disease are more common in males, and some diseases are more common in females. We could see some rather strange results such as men with ovarian cancer, or the females with prostate problems. As for HIV and STDs, if a transwoman (biological male) transmits the HIV virus to a female through PIV sex, is this considered female to female transmission? This could be construed as female to female transmission. How the heck does this work? There are numerous ways that “gender identity” could make a mockery out of health care data. How would we know if there is a shortage of gynecologists and prenatal care in an area if we don’t know how many actual females exist in that particular area?

On the article next about Kenyan girls forced to trade sex for sanitary pads, this article was on the side: “Lily Allen defends sleeping with prostitutes: ‘I had post-natal depression’” (I posted the link below).

“I slept with female escorts when I was on tour, cause I was lost and lonely and looking for something. I’m not proud, but I’m not ashamed.”

For the love of all that is holy, sex with prostitutes is NOT a cure for loneliness or for depression, nor is it an outlet.

I have to wonder if Allen made sure the prostitutes were of age, were not trafficked, were not under the thumb of a pimp.

I cannot understand why a woman who has labeled herself feminist would spend one dime, one penny of her money supporting an industry that thrives on the rape, abuse and exploitation of women and girls.

Reading the story about the girls in Kenya and then about Allen really got to me, because it just highlights how people with people with money and resources are willing to use that to take what should be freely and happily given: sex.

Lily Allen is not a feminist. Not an actual feminist that is. She’s one of those who think that anything a woman “consents” to is feminist. No critical thinking at all. Shame because I thought her music was pretty catchy. I can barely enjoy any pop music/movies/art anymore 🙁

    • therealcie

Wow, sleeping with prostitutes can cure post-partum depression? WHO KNEW???
Oddly enough, when I had post-partum depression, sex was the last thing on my mind. Guess that’s ’cause I’m not a hip, happening, sexy, choicey-choice feminist.

Drugs and childhood trauma often lead to poverty which then leads to prostitution. Prostitution is a crime based on the impoverishment of women and girls. Most women enter prostitution around 14, so drugs are not a reason for entering prostitution but a means of coping with it. Plenty of women are financially desperate in wealthy countries. You do understand that, right?

Hilariously, it should be noted, Jezebel was pissed at her for implying it wasn’t a good thing https://jezebel.com/lily-allens-defense-of-seeing-sex-workers-is-kinda-unfo-1828828568

I kinda like Lily Allen, though I’ve never followed her closely. She seems ballsy (excuse the term).

    • Elara

That was some ridiculous reading, but that is to be expected from Jezebel. I can hardly read anything on there without feeling like I have to breathe into a paper bag.

    • Yeah, I can’t really hate on her, even if I take issue with her behaviour (and oh God Jezebel *eyeroll*)… but we need to remember that there is no perfect feminist either.

Truthfully… marriage breakdown, babies and then divorce can really mess with your judgement and sense of self. I did all sorts of stupid out of character shit when I got divorced, lost friends that I didn’t expect to lose, and I can imagine that with her resources and surroundings, it must be weirder with all the scrutiny etc.

I know it’s not really an excuse, but celebrity is quite a bizarre situation. She lives in a bit of a vacuum, I guess, where she can’t exactly jump on Tinder or make new friends easily. I dunno.

      • Meghan Murphy

Yes, people are flawed and we all make mistakes. At least she admitted she did this because she was in a bad place. i.e. healthy, ethical people do not pay for sex…

  • lk

Lol… Does this make you transroyal?

  • Elara

Strikes me as some kind of publicity stunt tbh.

Good night grief, given the stories that have come out about UN staff and “peacekeepers” … My first thought on reading the last entry here was that if there were any male UNICEF staffers who worked on that report, they might also be some of the johns trading products for sex. I was thinking of this would be a somewhat snarky observation, but then thought, no, it’s just true. And with the Lily Allen story, maybe even “some” women?

On “Ms.” Lewin: I didn’t think about there being too many more disturbing details in the linked story, but for one, it is a privatized prison run by Sodexo (!!). Because a company built on providing crappy institutional food service is totally a natural choice to run a prison. Also, Lewin was allowed to marry another male perv. I’m sure that guy’s kids will be ecstatic about their new “stepmom.”

I don’t understand the NYC birth-certificate story. Usually, birth certificates are governed more at the state level, rather than by cities. NYC is big and complex; maybe they have some sort of autonomy on this.

  • Meghan Murphy

She paid for sex with female escorts, according to Jezebel.

  • Jani

    Trans elephants are real elephants!

  • Hekate Jayne

Flying dog is so much better, though.

I mean, she is a dog that flies. And is musically gifted. If the harp is any indication.

    • Robert Gonzalez

Flying Dog is a Goddess. I assure you <3

  • Meghan Murphy

Lol @ the notion feminists ignore reproduction.

  • Hanakai

What? Your post is nonsensical and reads like something from a mentally ill person.

Nature has made humans dimorphic, coming in two forms: male and female. Sex roles, however, are not innate, but are culturally determined and learned. Biological sex is real; gender is not. Gender is an artificial societal construct.

Before you write again, think, organize your thoughts, use your logical capabilities and try to make sense instead of wasting our time with your mindless juvenile drivel.
