  • Brendt Christensen, 30, is sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release for kidnapping and killing visiting Chinese scholar Yingying Zhang in 2017. Christensen was discovered to have been visiting a FetLife forum called “Abduction 101” and participated in “perfect abduction fantasy” threads weeks before he kidnapped, tortured, and killed Zhang.
  • Activists at University of California-Santa Barbara urge administration to fire Laura Tanner, a graduate student in the Department of Feminist Studies, who has been working as a teaching assistant since 2015. She has been targeted on account of tweets challenging gender identity ideology.
