  • Idaho became the first US state to ban trans-identified male athletes from competing in female sports leagues, enacting new laws that also prevent changes to birth certificates. 
  • The government of France will pay for hotel rooms for victims of domestic violence and open pop-up counseling centers after reports showed the number of abuse cases soared 30 per cent under coronavirus lockdown. 
  • Malaysia’s women’s affairs ministry has apologized for a series of posters instructing women to wear makeup at home and to refrain from nagging their husbands in order to prevent domestic violence.
  • Nova Scotia suspends home births less than a week after midwives experienced a spike in demand as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
