  • A 15-year-old girl has died of pregnancy complications in India, having been denied permission to have an abortion after she was raped while working in a sugarcane field.
  • Child marriage is still legal and persists in Canada, even though the Canadian government works to end the practice in other countries.
  • A report on children’s well being in Bangladesh finds that 626 children were reported having been raped in 2020, and there was a 60 per cent increase in adults forcing children into marriage contracts.
  • Argentina’s decriminalization of abortion will also mean that prosecutors will drop any pending charges against women over the termination or unexpected end of a pregnancy, and overturn previous convictions under the overturned abortion ban.
  • Last Friday, the US Department of Education released an internal memo saying that the self-identification of sex standard set for Title VII employment law, by the Supreme Court’s Bostock decision, did not apply to Title IX education law, meaning that educational institutions should still be allowed to have single-sex sports and accommodations without regard to gender identity claims.
