What’s Current: UK barrister under investigation for challenging threats from trans activists

  • Allison Bailey, a lesbian barrister who recently helped launch the new UK group LGB Alliance, has been subjected to severe online threats and abuse, and is under investigation by her employers at Garden Court Chambers because of her statement that “Gender extremism is about to meet its match.”
  • A trans-identified male, Mia Williams, set a woman on fire in a Florida Taco Bell restaurant and then continued on an arson spree, burning several cars and a church. The woman was taken to hospital where she’s being treated for serious injuries.
  • Chinese police have arrested #MeToo activist Sophia Huang Xueqing in Guangzhou on charges of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble.”
  • Cosmetic surgeons say that women need to be better warned about the health risks of silicone breast implants.
  • Some Scottish parents are angry after their children returned to school from break to find that all the toilet facilities were mixed sex, causing some children to be too embarrassed to use the restroom and girls to worry about their privacy from boys during menstruation.
